Lincoln Park, San Francisco

During our last San Francisco visit, we drove around the bay and stopped by Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museum of SF, famous for Auguste Rodin's "The Thinker" sculpture in the Court of Honor. The hill used to be a Chinese cemetery now Lincoln Park Golf Course and offers one of the best views to Golden Gate Bridge (GGB) from the Pacific Ocean side.
Here, Rocket takes a little break playing golf against the backdrop of GGB in between of our long Bay drive.

Chicago

For some illustrations it takes a looooooooong time to complete and this Chicago poster is absolutely one of them to us. We still can't believe that it took only a couple of hours for the actual drawing part as I've been thinking about the image more than four years since introducing "Rocket Launch" collection.
Here's our little tribute to the Windy City, one of the amazing places in U.S.A. famous for their architecture and design. Someday, let's fly over the City of Chicago on a balloon like Rocket does here.

Rockefeller Center, NYC

Rocket became the Greek god Prometheus who brought fire to humans. As the building complex is famous for Art Deco style, we used Avant Garde typeface to reflect the era.

[Rocket on Capitol Hill]

Although it's only April, Rocket can't wait to visit D.C. to attend Fourth of July Fireworks there. He wish to conduct the whole show like the "Mickey Mouse" did in "Fantasia movie" as he can do much better job being a mighty dog not a mouse. Do you agree?

The Bean!

 [Cloud Gate, a.k.a. "The Bean"]
British artist Anish Kapoor created this public sculpture in Chicago's Millennium Park using a huge number of individual stainless steel plates and polishing thousands of hours to achieve the seamless surface. The Bean was situated in front of Michigan Ave. back-dropped by beautiful Chicago buildings facing Lake Michigan. It's one of the most favored places by Chicagoans since first appeared in 2006. When Rocket first saw the sculpture in previous trips to Chicago, he wished Myunghye to draw it sometime soon as he also liked it soooooo much. Finally, here is the Bean with Rocket.

California Quail

From cold winter days till spring time, these California Quails visit our house in high mountains in Utah, where we live currently. They usually come in a group of 10-15 to pick up seeds dropped by little birds from a bird feeder that we put out.
We caution our two dogs not to bother their meal time yet, I'm sure the dogs enjoy their pass time favorite job - bird chasing.

Go Lions!

Art Institute of Chicago is my the most favorite museum in the world... I can say... in the world. It's the first art museum that I visited in U.S. back in 30 years ago when I came to Chicago for graduate school. I still clearly remember seeing their iconic master piece, "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat for the first time. How wonderful to witness the little dots of the painting in person with my naked eyes!
As the museum is now the second largest one in US after NYC's Metropolitan Museum with their new Modern Wing opened in 2009 behind the railroad and main building on the Michigan Avenue, I can see a lot more art in a very pleasant and spacious place.
Here's Rocket riding one of the two lion statues (Kemeys, bronze 1893) flanking the Institute's main entrances on the Michigan Ave. Next two photos are the famous "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte" in full size and detail showing the dots.
